TDR: 22 August (Psalm 34:10)

‘Those who seek the LORD lack no good thing’  (Psalm 34:10)

What a comfortable promise this is to the poor, weak, and timid Christian; they have not attained to a state of assurance, but they are seeking the Lord, and here God promises them that He shall not lack any good thing.

They may feel that they have nothing good in them, or finds they can do nothing good of them self, fears that good will never be enjoyed by them; but their God assures them, that no good thing shall be withheld from them:

Their God will pardon their sin, justify their person, strengthen their soul, supply their needs, comfort their heart, conquer their foes, sanctify their trials, and give them victory over death.

We shall not want for long, if God is able to supply; we cannot be neglected, if our God is true; we shall receive all that is good, and when it will do us most good.

Let us therefore seek the Lord, and rest assured that He will withhold from us no good thing. The silver and the gold are His, and He says, “If you being evil know how to give good things to your children, HOW MUCH MORE shall your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask Him.”

If earthly parents hear
Their children when they cry,
If they with love sincere
Their children’s wants supply,
Much more will God His love display,
And answer when His children pray.
