‘Walk a life worthy of God’ (1 Thessalonians 2:12)

God has called us with a holy calling, to enjoy a holy Saviour, to believe a holy gospel, to possess a holy nature, and to walk in a holy way. All the provisions of free grace, all the promises of infinite love, and all the precepts of reigning holiness, unite to require us to be a holy people unto the Lord our God.

We are to imitate the conduct of God: He feeds His foes, loves His people, and always acts in ways becoming of His glorious character. Enemies will lie in wait to deceive you, errors will come close to mislead you; but be alert, in case you are led away by the error of the wicked, and you fall from your own steadfastness.

Consider your character – children of God; your high privileges – united to Jesus, temples of the Holy Spirit, companions of saints and angels, the friends of God; your destination – to fill a throne of glory, wear a blood-bought crown, and reflect the praises of God Almighty forever.

Walk worthy of God, suitable to your character, profession and destination. Walk with God; walk as Jesus walked; walk carefully as in the daylight; so you will adorn your profession, and secure to yourself comfort and peace.

Oh! For a closer walk with God,
A calm and heavenly frame –
A light to shine upon the road
That leads me to the Lamb.

Journal Jottings

‘Thou hast promised to forgive my sin, and hast said, “I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more”, and I have found thee faithful. Thou hast promised to guide me, and thou has led me by the right way. Thou hast promised to strengthen me, and I have ever found my strength equal to my day.’

At Cambray we aim to encourage and equip everyone to become a fully committed everyday follower of Jesus Christ
