Gary and his wife Catherine are the founders and owners of ‘The Entertainer’ toy shop, which from small beginnings has grown to be the biggest independent retail toy chain in Britain. Having become a Christian, Gary decided not to open any of his 60+ stores on Sundays, as he wanted to honour the Sabbath principle, wanting his 600+ staff to have a day off with their families and friends. He also took the decision not to sell any Halloween-type stock, including the highly profitable Harry Potter merchandise. At Christmas, as you may have seen in his shop on Cheltenham High Street, Gary placed a large nativity scene in the shop window, instead of promoting the latest toys. What did such decisions do to his profit margins?
Come along to the Cheltenham Park Hotel to hear Gary speak about his big decisions – where personal faith in Jesus Christ and business meet.
