TDR: 14 April (Colossians 2:10)

‘You have been given fullness in Christ’ (Colossians 2:10)

Do not look too much at yourself, for there is nothing but vanity, weakness, sin and misery there! But your God has united you to His dearly beloved Son. Jesus is one with you, and all that He has is yours.

You are unholy, but He is given to you your sanctification; and He will sanctify you fully, body, soul and spirit. You are foolish, but He is made wisdom for you, and He will make you wise unto salvation. You are weak, but He is your strength; and you can do all things through Him who strengthens you.

You are unrighteous, but He is made righteous for you; and you are not only righteous, but the righteousness of God in Him is yours. You are lost, but He has made redemption for you; He has redeemed you from the curse of God, and from the present evil world, and He will redeem you from death.

In yourself, you are not only incomplete, but wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked; but in Jesus you are holy, wise, strong, righteous, rich, happy; in one word – COMPLETE! View yourself, then, at least occasionally, as COMPLETE IN CHRIST, who is the head of all principalities and power.

Still onward urge your heavenly way,
Dependant on Him day by day,
His presence still entreat;
His precious name forever bless,
Your glory, strength, and righteousness,
In Him you are complete.

Journal Jottings

‘I am at this time visited with a deep and painful sense of my own poverty, and my spirit sinks under the discovery I have of the meanness of my gifts, the smallness of my grace, the greatness of my sin, and the little I do for God’s glory. O how I long for more vital active religion in my soul! I want to enjoy fellowship with God, as my friend, to walk in the light of his countenance, and to feel his divine power working within me.’
