TDR: 11 April (Genesis 25:22)

‘And she went to inquire of the Lord’ (Genesis 25:22)

Excellent example! Let us imitate Rebekah, for God commands us to do so. “In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths” [Proverbs 3:6]. Commit your way unto the Lord, trust in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

Are you in trouble? Go and inquire of the Lord – what is the cause? Unite with Job in praying, “Show me why you contend with me?” [Job 10:2].

Are you perplexed? Go and inquire – what is the design? He will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. He will guide you with His eye [Psalm 32:8]. Go in an inquiring spirit.

Go persuaded that whatever the circumstances or trials may be, that as a believer in Jesus, wrath and curse can have nothing to do with you; they were exhausted when Jesus died in your place. Be assured that whatever comes from God is a blessing, a benefit, a favour, a proof of love; however painful, perplexing, or distressing it may be.

Do not reason, but believe in the promise of your God; do not be despondent, do not grieve or complain; but go and INQUIRE OF THE LORD; at His throne, of His word. He says, “I will be inquired of”.

Prayer was appointed to convey
The blessings God designs to give;
Long as they live should Christians pray,
For only while they pray they live.

‘To be useless in God’s church, and in a world like this, the few days allotted me on earth, appear to me to be dreadful. O Lord, use me, and if in order to this I must be tried, then try me, even to the quick; only give patience, fortitude and a sense of thy love.’
