Recently retired as Director of the Band of the Irish Guards, Major Phil Shannon began his Army career as a boy of 15, joining The Junior Musicians’ Troop Royal Artillery and eventually became the Director of Music of the bands of both the Welsh and Irish Guards. He has also appeared on BBC Songs of Praise and recorded many CDs. Having retired from the Army, he is currently a Captain of Invalids at The Royal Hospital, where he works in a welfare role with the Chelsea Pensioners.

Phil will talk about his faith and his musical journey, which led him to eventually be responsible for state and ceremonial music, performing regularly for the Royal Family.
